Audi A8L W12 Reviews and Photos

Audi A8L W12

Audi A8L W12 Gallery

Audi replaces its flagship luxury-sedan range with a new generation starting this November with the arrival of the 4.2-liter, V8-powered A8 and the stretched wheelbase A8L. Audi will follow that up with this car, using the marque's unique W12 engine (four rows of three cylinders), in long-wheelbase chassis only. Now offering a full 500 hp (up 50 hp, or 10 percent), the company's technological showcase nevertheless returns improved fuel economy, in part thanks to a new eight-speed tiptronic transmission.

More than five inches longer than the outgoing model--with all the added length devoted to the comfort of rear-seat passengers--the A8L is, like its predecessor, built on an aluminum spaceframe structure that Audi claims reduces chassis mass 40 percent over an all-steel equivalent. This is offset somewhat by the standard quattro four-wheel-drive system, the panoramic glass dual sunroofs and other luxurious features. But in a car that stretches 17 feet, 3.5 inches (a bit longer than the Mercedes S-class), it lets Audi pack in those features at a curb weight no greater than its rivals from Munich or Stuttgart.

Audi says its car will be the first automobile that offers a true mobile WLAN rolling hot spot and takes advantage of this Internet connectivity by using a navigation system that uses Google maps to make any place on the planet a potential “point of interest” or destination. The hardware for this feature will be installed from the outset, though enabling its operation in the United States will await agreement with a mobile-communications partner.

Other new features include a “relaxation seat” option that provides a reclinable rear seat with a fold-down footrest in the back of the front passenger seat, all power operated. The front seat becomes unusable when this feature is fully utilized, but it does let Audi offer a Maybach-like luxury feature in a slightly less ostentatious package. Long as it is now, the A8L is still three feet shorter than the battleship-like Maybach 62.

In Europe, the car goes on sale in October and offers other engine options that include 3.0-liter and 4.2 liter turbodiesels and a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that burns gasoline. Audi has no immediate plans to use any of these engines in the U.S.-market A8, though Audi of America chief Johan De Nysschen says he'd like to offer clean diesel in every product line eventually. The supercharged V6 also has potential depending on economic and regulatory circumstances.

Toyota Verso-S MPV

Small MPVs might not be the hottest commodities here in the United States, but these little functional wonders sell like hotcakes in other markets, especially Europe. To keep up with the growing segment, Toyota has given its Verso hatch a rather substantial makeover, and we'll see the all-new Verso-S debut at the Paris Motor Show in just a few weeks.

Upon its launch in the UK in early 2011, the Verso-S will be the shortest B-segment MPV in Europe – the car is less than four meters (157 inches) long. It's a sharp little hatch, too, looking like the lovechild of a Honda Fit and a Toyota iQ, the latter of which supplies many of the visual cues seen here on the new Verso-S.

Toyota is still keeping quiet about the full specifications, but expect the floodgates to open at the end of September closer to the little MPV's official debut. Read more in Toyota's press release, after the jump.

After a more than expected successful first year on the full-size sport utility market, the 2010 Ford Flex Ecoboost AWD Limited returns with more power, performance and high-technology features. I tested the new Ecoboost ‘top-of-the-line’ Limited model that came equipped with everything I would expect in a luxury crossover sport utility.

Ford Flex already turned heads with its distinctive style and its planted stance, signature Ford aluminum grille, broad shoulders flanked by signature side grooves, a chrome strip that travels from the front A-pillar all around to the other side A-pillar, slab aluminum plate on the rear hatch, LED rear lamps, dual, 3in. polished stainless steel exhaust tips, and a flat roof, it is a style than shuns traditional crossover styling, plus you can still option for the available 2-tone roof.

The Flex comes standard with a 3.5 liter, 24-valve V6 variation of the award-winning Duratec engine family that delivers 262hp at 6,250rpm and 248lb.ft. of torque, more than enough to easily move 7-passengers and cargo; but the big news is the optional EcoBoost twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter 24-valve, direct fuel injected V6 that produces 355hp at 5,700rpm and 350lb.ft. of torque at 3,500rpm, while still returning 16mpg/city and 22mpg/highway with the standard AWD.

James bond fame Aston Martin Comes Indian roads by Dec 2010

Aston Martin, the famous James Bond car that had become a rage in the Ian Fleming flicks, is ready to set fire to Indian roads with its astonishing looks and thrilling style statement. However, what could spoil the fun for many is its hefty price tag of as much as Rs 3 crores.

According to reports, this leading British car maker Aston Martin is planning to launch some of its global portfolio cars in the Indian market and the company has already partnered with Infinity Cars to set-up an outlet in the city of Mumbai. The company has signed an agreement with India based Infinity Cars which is already an authorized dealer of BMW cars in the Indian market. According to this agreement Infinity Cars will be the exclusive distributor of Aston Martin in the Indian market.

It is also reported that the booking process for the Aston Martin will begin next week and the first lot of cars will be delivered in India by the end of this year. As reported by a leading news daily, the James Bond fame car will be initially sold in four models in the Indian market including V8, DB9, Rapide and DBS in an expected price range of Rs 1.3 to 2.8 crore.

However, the company hasn't made any official statement in this regard so far. On the other hand, Infinity Cars director Lalit Choudary was reported as saying that it is not the right time and pre-mature as both of the companies are still finalising the prices of prospective models. He added that the picture will be clear in a month's time.

Aston Martin is a leading sports car maker, that was established in year 1914. The company was a part of US based Ford Motors from year 1994 to 2007.
